OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities are investigating after a woman pushing a stroller was struck and pinned by a mini school bus on Long Island Monday afternoon.

According to detectives, it happened at 2:40 p.m. when a 45-year-old woman was crossing Long Beach Road in Oceanside while pushing a stroller at the intersection of Davison Avenue and Long Beach Road.

A mini school bus operated by a 71-year-old man was heading west on Davison Avenue and turning left onto Long Beach Road when it struck the pedestrian, pinning her under the bus.

Nassau County Emergency Services Unit, Highway Department and the Oceanside Fire Department extracted the victim by lifting the bus using a five-ton floor jack along with high pressure air bags, officials said.

The victim suffered leg injuries and a laceration to her head. She was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The child in the stroller appeared to be uninjured, but was also transported to an area hospital for evaluation and was reunited with a family member.

No criminality is expected at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
