NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Long Island woman was arrested for placing a propane tank on a stove in a Massapequa Park home and threatening to burn it down with two kids inside, officials said Wednesday.
At about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nassau County officers responded to a residence on Ocean Avenue for a domestic disturbance.
Upon police arrival, officers were informed that Stephanie Spada, 46, was involved in a verbal argument with a 50-year-old man.
The argument escalated and the man fled the scene. Spada then sent him text messages threatening to burn the house down and placed a propane tank on top of the stove, detectives said. Two kids, ages 10 and 14, were inside at the time.
Officers located Spada and placed her under arrest without further incident and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
Spada was charged with arson and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was arraigned on Wednesday.
