NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Two people were arrested Tuesday after a shoplifting incident at a Walmart on Long Island, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Officers responded to a Walmart in Uniondale, where they found Anya Slater, 20, a homeless woman, engaged in a physical altercation with three Walmart employees after allegedly tried to steal merchandise.

When police tried to arrest Slater, she physically resisted, prompting officers to use a taser. She was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
The three employees sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention at the scene. They informed officers that a second suspect had fled on foot with stolen merchandise in his backpack.
Shortly afterward, Thomas Belajonas, 21, of North Merrick, was found near the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Jerusalem Road in East Meadow and arrested without further incident.

All stolen merchandise was recovered, police said.
Slater was charged with robbery, assault, and resisting arrest. Belajonas was charged with robbery.
