NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A suspect in a fatal shooting in New Jersey was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a shootout with police, authorities said.
The fatal shooting occurred in the vicinity of 433 4th Avenue in Newark, officials said.
Officers who were already in the area, heard shots and rushed to the scene.
During the arrest attempt, shots were exchanged between the suspect and the officers. There were no injuries in the exchange.
The victim was found after the arrest and pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.
Police have also not released the suspect's identity.
The investigation remains ongoing.
