Suspect shot after confrontation with DEA agents on NJ street

FORT LEE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — New Jersey prosecutors are investigating an officer-involved shooting which occurred on Tuesday afternoon near an elementary school.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. on Whiteman Street and Palisade Avenue in Fort Lee, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

A car had crashed into a pole at the scene and dozens of bullets were scattered on the ground.

Sources told the Daily Voice that the DEA task force had been conducting an operation which led to the shooting.

A suspect was injured in the shooting and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where he is expected to survive, sources told the outlet.
