Gil-Medrano was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the victim was sitting in the back of a black livery cab when the suspects riding two separate scooters gunned down the vehicle.

Police sources told PIX11 that Gil-Medrano is a known member of the 800 YGz gang with five prior arrests.

Police believe the victim was targeted.

The livery cab driver was uninjured and called 911, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing.
