LONG BRANCH, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A former New Jersey teacher was arrest Sunday and charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and repeatedly showing her pornography, prosecutors announced.
Gustavo Barrientos, 53, faces first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child charges, according to Monmouth County prosecutors.
Barrientos, who was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Long Branch School District allegedly showed the 10-year-old female student porn and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
He was listed as working as a fourth-grade teacher at George L. Catrambone Elementary School for the 2016-2017 school year at the time of the alleged assaults, NJ.com reported.
If convicted of aggravated sexual assault, Barrientos faces life in prison.
He could also be sentenced to 10 years if found guilty of endangering the welfare of a child, according to prosecutors.
