HOBOKEN, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities arrested and charged a teen with attempted murder on Wednesday in connection to a drive-by shooting in New Jersey earlier this month, officials said.

The incident happened on July 5, when 18-year-old Edwin Hernandez shot at a 26-year-old man standing in the area of Third and Jackson streets in Hoboken, according to police.

Hernandez missed the intended target, striking a storefront window instead and almost hitting an employee, Hoboken Lt. Danilo Cabrera said.

Detectives along with the Hudson County Regional SWAT team, arrested Hernandez at his apartment on Central Avenue in Jersey City where they also found 35-year-old Leonardo Mora inside the apartment in possession of 22 small clear plastic bags of suspected crack/cocaine and a clear plastic bag containing three larger rocks of suspected crack/cocaine, Cabrera added.

Hernandez and Mora were both taken to the Hudson County jail.

Hernandez was charged with criminal attempt murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, officials said.

Mora is facing multiple drug charges, including drug distribution and possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park.
