Thief robs man at NJ ATM, leaves behind jail ID card

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A man stole hundreds of dollars from a New Jersey ATM and then dropped his Hudson County Jail identification card and personal property receipt while fleeing, NJ Advance reported.

The robbery took place at a Jersey City Chase bank at 56 Columbus Drive around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, according to police radio transmissions.

A 36-year-old man was withdrawing $800 from the outdoor ATM machine when the thief shoved him to the side and stole the cash as it was being released, cops said in the transmissions.

After stealing the cash, the thief fled on Warren Street but dropped a bag which had his identifying documents.

Police have not yet arrested the suspect and the investigation remains ongoing.
