SEAFORD, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man who posted his Rolex for sale on Facebook ended up clinging to the hood of a car in a Starbucks parking lot as two men fled with his watch, Nassau County police said Tuesday.
The 29-year-old victim had posted an ad for the Rolex to Facebook Marketplace with a price of $8,500. He was contacted by a potential buyer, and the parties agreed to meet Monday night in the parking lot of the Starbucks on Sunrise Highway in Seaford.
The victim was met around 9:40 p.m. by two men. When he took out the Rolex to show it to them, they grabbed the watch and pushed him to the ground, police said.
They then attempted to flee the scene in a black Mercedes-Benz—but the victim jumped onto the hood of the vehicle to stop them.
They continued to drive away with the victim on the hood of the Mercedes, police said.
He was eventually thrown from the car onto the street, suffering a laceration to his head and an injury to his hip.
EMS treated the victim at the scene.
The suspects fled and were still being sought on Tuesday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, cops said.
