TOTOWA, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey woman has been charged with running an unlicensed veterinary clinic out of a pet boarding and grooming business, prosecutors say.
Alia Muslih, 39, of Montclair, ran a clinic called Totowa Animal Hospital out of another business, called Seven Star Pet Resort, on Furler Street in Totowa, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release Monday.
Muslih is not a licensed veterinarian, but “created and reinforced a false impression” that she was one, according to prosecutors.
The animal hospital, meanwhile, was not a licensed veterinary clinic, prosecutors said.
Muslih faces charges including theft by deception, corporate misconduct, animal cruelty and unlicensed possession of prescription drugs, the prosecutor’s office said. She could face up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
Her attorney information wasn’t immediately available Monday.
