NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A New York City bee remover saved a swarm of bees that took over a Long Island home Tuesday.

The owner of the split-level North Babylon house told WCBS 880 they have a whole wall of fresh wax and honey bees inside the wall of a closet and the insects are frequently seen buzzing all around.
The honey bees don’t go inside the house, the owner said, but hundreds of them are often seen in the driveway and at the front door.
Tony Bees, a retired NYPD detective, was called in to help remove the more than 12,000 bees from the home.
Honey bees are not dangerous and will typically stay in the one spot they made their hive in. The pollinators are good for the environment and will be taken to a beekeeper once they are removed. None of the bees will be killed.
