NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – Two Brooklyn men were arrested this week, two months after they brutally attacked and kidnapped a 75-year-old worker who was opening a business next to the motorcycle dealer they were raiding, police said.
Nassau County police held a news conference Wednesday to announce the arrests of the two men—Tristan Livingston, 27, and Justin St. Hill, 27—in the Aug 13. burglary at Gold Coast Motorsports in New Hyde Park.
Disturbing surveillance video released by police shows the victim unlocking the business next door to the motorcycle dealer around 4:30 a.m. that morning.
"At 75 years of age opening up a business at 4:30 in the morning, that man doesn't deserve anything but a nice cup of coffee, and instead they wreaked havoc on this gentleman," Nassau County PD Commissioner Patrick Ryder said at the news conference.
According to Ryder, the victim saw the pair breaking into the auto dealer and said, "Hey, what are you doing? I'm going to call the police."
That's when they attacked him—punching, dragging and hitting him with a metal pipe, and also holding him captive, Ryder said.
Video shows them dragging him along the sidewalk with his dog and knocking him to the ground repeatedly throughout the parking lot.
The pair allegedly threated him and prevented him from leaving the scene, but he managed to escape after a lengthy struggle, according to Ryder, who said of the victim: "He fought these guys, threw some punches and was able to get away."
The duo fled in a U-Haul truck with five stolen motorcycles valued at $125,000, police said.
But about two months later, on Oct. 8, Nassau County police and members of the U.S. Marshals’ New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested them at their residence in Brooklyn.
They face charges of burglary, kidnapping and assault. They were arraigned Tuesday.
Both have a prior arrest history, Livingston for weapons possession and forgery, and St. Hill for burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
