TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Body camera footage was released on Tuesday of a New Jersey Transit police officer saving the life of a choking toddler in Trenton.

Police responded to a call from a migrant bus that had arrived from Texas, according to NJ Transit officials. Upon arrival officers saw a passenger calling out for help with an unresponsive 3-year-old boy in his arms, rushing out of a bus at the NJ Transit Trenton station on April 16 at around 9:45 p.m.

The child was unresponsive and not breathing, struggling with an obstructed airway, according to police officers.

One of the responding officers immediately performed CPR on the child.

Despite the officer's efforts to save the child, whatever was clogging his airway didn’t move, police said.

"He's turning blue," an officer is heard saying in the body camera footage.
The baby boy started to turn visibly blue and Sgt. Michael Filandro and K9 Officer Timothy Geoghegan immediately decided to take the child to the nearest hospital.

During the ride, Filandro continued to perform CPR on the child and as they approached the hospital the baby boy started to breathe again.

"He's moving," Filandro is heard saying in the video. "There we go, buddy."

Portions of the camera footage were edited to respect the privacy of the child, police said.

NJ Transit Police Department also thanked Lieutenant Mark Frenzel, Officer Roberto Tavares, and Officer Michael Virag for their help.
