NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Below-average temperatures have enveloped the Tri-State, which may see its first snow of the season on Tuesday night before even colder air pushes in.
The five boroughs and nearby suburbs could see some flakes when precipitation arrives around sunset Tuesday, but it's expected to quickly change over to rain in and around the city, according to AccuWeather.
That won't be the case to the northwest, where the New Jersey and Hudson Valley suburbs may see a couple inches of a slushy, wintry mix overnight into early Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory was issued for the northwest suburbs, as slushy, icy conditions are expected to make for hazardous travel. The advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Tuesday was cloudy and chilly before the rain was expected to start falling around 5 p.m.

Lows will sink to about 40 in the five boroughs overnight, while temps will drop out to the low 30s further inland.
Any leftover rain will depart early Wednesday. Clouds then break for a sunny, breezy and cold day. The high will hit 47, but the RealFeels will be down in the 30s.
Thursday is breezy and chilly with some sun and a high of 46. There will also be plenty of sunshine on Friday, but it will be bit colder as highs only reach the low 40s.

Temps will feel more like January as even colder air heads towards the New York area over the weekend. Highs stick to the low-to-mid 40s, but it will otherwise be dry and sunny.
Temps are forecasted to remain below average for the second half of November. Highs in Manhattan next week are only set to be in the upper 30s to mid 40s.
