NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Heavy thunderstorms may bring flooding downpours and gusty winds to the New York City area on Monday, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for New York City and much of North Jersey from the afternoon through late Monday night, warning flash flooding is possible.
“Showers and potential thunderstorms with high amounts of moisture are expected to move through the area this afternoon and tonight,” the NWS said. “These showers will have the potential to produce up to around 2 inches of rainfall per hour.”

According to AccuWeather, the stormy weather will move through Monday afternoon and evening. Rain could flood streets and low-lying areas, and gusty winds are possible. The high will be 75 degrees.
The rain is set to linger overnight into early Tuesday. Clouds may break for sun later in the day Tuesday.
Wednesday is set to be sunny and warm before the storm threat returns on Thursday.
