NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Labor Day weekend will start under the threat of storms in the New York City area, but it’s forecasted to end with beautiful weather to mark the unofficial end of summer.
Conditions were cool and cloudy Friday as travelers began hitting the roads and airports for the big weekend. Highs are in the low 70s in the city.
Showers will be around Friday evening and may continue to pop up Friday night, according to AccuWeather. They could pose some issues for fliers.

Saturday will be much more humid with periods of sun and a high of 79 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through Saturday night.
Those storms may linger into Sunday morning ahead of a cloudy and humid day. The high will be 82 to begin September.

Labor Day Monday is looking very nice overall. It will be breezy and much less humid with sun and some clouds. The high will be a pleasant 76.
It’s set to stay sunny and nice through the middle of next week. Highs should hover in the mid-70s.
The Labor Day holiday will end a record-breaking summer for air travel in the U.S. The TSA has predicted it will screen more than 17 million people between Thursday and next Wednesday, an 8% increase from last year. Friday is expected to be the busiest day at airports.
