NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A potent late winter storm will hammer the New York City area with gusty winds, heavy rain and possibly even thunderstorms on Wednesday.
Light showers may pop up during the day before the storm rolls through the city in the afternoon and evening hours, according to AccuWeather.
The bulk of the storm is expected to pass through NYC after 3 p.m.
The storm may produce heavy rain, powerful wind gusts and even isolated thunderstorms.

More than 1 inch of rain is expected across the area, but isolated amounts could top 2 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
The wind is also a concern—gusts of 35 to 45 mph are in the forecast, with even stronger gusts possible.

It will feel especially like spring as highs hit about 54 degrees in Midtown Manhattan.
The storm will move out Wednesday night for a breezy and partly cloudy Thursday. The high will be 55.

Friday will be partly sunny with a chilly breeze and a 49 degree high.
Looking ahead, the weekend starts mostly sunny on Saturday, with a high of 47.
Sunday will be a bit chillier and cloudier, with a high of 45. A rain or snow shower can’t be ruled out.
