NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The spring season started balmy, with highs reaching the 70s—and even over 80 degrees—in recent weeks. But the bottom fell out over the weekend as a blast of Arctic air engulfed the region.
As of Tuesday, temps are 10 to 20 degrees below average across a swath of the Northeast and Midwest, according to AccuWeather. There are even snow showers around upstate.
A Freeze Warning is in effect for much of the NYC area, including all five boroughs, until 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Gusty winds are helping drive the return to winter-like weather. Tuesday’s high is 46 degrees in Manhattan, but it’ll mostly feel like the 30s.

Lows will drop to around 31 in Midtown on Tuesday night and into the 20s in many suburbs.
Wednesday will be more of the same—sunny but quite chilly, with a high of 48.

Temps will near 50 on Thursday and Friday, but RealFeels will stick mostly to the 40s, just as multiple rounds of rain move through late Thursday and Friday.
The cold and rainy weather is set to continue Saturday, when the high will again only reach about 50.
