NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Waves of rainy, stormy weather will wash over the New York City area late Thursday and Friday, according to AccuWeather.

A Coastal Flood Advisory was issued for much of the area, including all five boroughs, starting Thursday night. A Wind Advisory has also been posted.

Thursday's cloudy, damp weather will give way to heavier rain around sunset, with showers continuing overnight and into the morning commute.

Strong winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms are all possible Thursday morning. There's a moderate risk of both flooding and coastal flooding.

Additionally, wind gusts may near 50 mph, bringing the risk of power outages.

The MTA said it was preparing for the stormy weather and working to minimize impacts on service. MTA Bridges and Tunnels will ban empty tractor-trailers and tandem trucks on its seven bridges overnight.

The Department of Buildings warned builders, contactors, crane operators and property owners to secure their sites.

The early wind and rain may linger into the day Friday. The high will be 64 degrees in Midtown Manhattan.
