
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Temps will soar to 75 degrees in New York City—and near 80 in parts of New Jersey—on Thursday as gusty thunderstorms roll through the area.
Wednesday is damp, cool and cloudy in the city, with occasional light rain and a breeze, according to AccuWeather. The high will be 54.
Temps will only drop a little overnight to the low 50s.

Thursday will start cloudy and breezy with some early morning drizzle.
By afternoon, highs will be well into the mid-70s in the five boroughs and close to 80 in parts of New Jersey, including Newark and Jersey City.


A gusty storm system will also arrive by the afternoon and last into the evening. Storms could be strong at times with heavy wind gusts.
Tornadoes and other severe weather have wreaked havoc across a swath of the U.S. over the past week, with dozens killed in the South and Midwest. Another large tornado in Missouri Wednesday killed multiple people. In New Jersey on Saturday, seven tornadoes touched down, but no one was injured.
Thursday's turbulent weather could hamper the Mets' afternoon home opener at Citi Field, but for now the game is on schedule.

After the the storms move out, Friday will be cooler, dry and partly sunny. Highs will near 60 in the city.
Saturday will be sunny and nice with a high of 56.
Easter Sunday currently looks dry and milder with sunshine. Temps will be at a pleasant 60 to 65.
