NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A winter weather advisory is in effect for New York City and surrounding areas as another round of snow, sleet and rain is expected to bring 1 to 2 inches of accumulation Friday.

It was cold and icy Friday morning as a mix of sleet and freezing drizzle continued across the area. The precipitation was expected to change back to snow and continue at varying degrees through Friday evening, according to AccuWeather. The high is 34.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of the New York City area until 7 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island saw 4 inches of snow Thursday, while the Bronx got 3.5 inches. Parts of Long Island and Connecticut hit 6 inches and areas of North Jersey topped 4.5 inches, the National Weather Service said.
Another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation is forecast for the city on Friday. In total, about 6 inches are expected for much of the city from the two-day storm.
Temperatures will slowly rise in most places and should get above freezing for a few hours Friday afternoon. Roads should change from slippery in the morning to more slushy in the afternoon and evening.
Snow is expected to taper to flurries by evening, with some flurries even lingering into the night, especially inland.
Temperatures fall back below freezing Friday evening, so surfaces could get icy for Saturday morning.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said Thursday that the Sanitation Department was "out in force" for the storm. He urged New Yorkers to stay off roadways so "the good folks at the Sanitation Department can do their work."
"This is not a huge storm, but it is coming on top of the snow we had before. Obviously, a lot of snow still around," the mayor said.
Vaccination sites, testing sites and food distribution sites were expected to be open Friday after some closed on Thursday.
While outdoor dining on streets was closed Thursday, de Blasio said he expected it to also return Friday.
"Based on what we're seeing now, everything should be fine for outdoor dining tomorrow, full strength," de Blasio said Thursday.
Alternate side parking is suspended through Saturday.
After the storm passes, Saturday will be breezy and cold with some sun. Flurries are possible later in the afternoon and evening. The high will be 36 but RealFeels will stay in the 20s.
Sunday is sunny and chilly with a high of 36.
