NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Harvey’s Weinstein’s Los Angeles holding cell has, what his lawyers call, “unsanitary” and “medieval” conditions.

The 70-year-old convicted sex offender is standing trial in Los Angeles for 11 charges after already being sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York for various sex crimes.

Weinstein’s trial began on Monday and while he spends most of his time at the Twin Towers jail, he is kept up to three hours a day at an alleged decrepit courthouse holding cell.

“It’s almost medieval, the conditions,” defense attorney Mark Werksman told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench. “He’s 70 years old. I’m worried about him surviving this ordeal without a heart attack or stroke.”

Though Lench acknowledged the conditions were bad, she claimed Werksman was exaggerating by saying there was no toilet. Lench added that she was “not sure there’s a lot to be done.”

Opening arguments are scheduled for Oct. 24 with the trial expected to move slowly which means Weinstein may have to put up with the holding cell for quite a while.
