
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Fire officials are on the scene of a Manhattan blaze that left one woman dead Wednesday evening.
The fire was reported at approximately 4:30 p.m. at a six-story apartment building located at 351 East 54th Street in the Midtown East neighborhood.
About 60 firefighters responded to the flames of the building's first floor, according to the FDNY.
The fire was placed under control by 5:15 p.m. and officials confirm that a 73-year-old woman who lived alone was fatally injured during the fire, police said.
Officials believe the fire was accidental. An investigation is ongoing.
