NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Suffolk County police released a photo on Thursday of a woman who allegedly hit another woman with a hammer and pushed her child on Long Island last month.
The reason for the attack isn't clear, but police said Ligia Lopez Menendez, 37, went to the Riverside home of the victim on Oct. 30, bashed her in the head with a hammer and shoved her kid.
The relationship between the two women isn't clear, but the victim had an order of protection against Menendez, officials said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and her child was not Injured.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about these incidents submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS.
