ALBERTSON, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 70-year-old woman was killed after she was attacked by her late step-son's pit bull in Nassau County on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the incident happened on Terrace Court near Willets Road in Albertson around 1:15 p.m.
Her 66-year-old husband came home to find his wife in the backyard, mauled to death by the 7-year-old dog, police said.
The dog was taken in by the family after its owner, the woman's step-son, died in a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago.
Cops eventually responded and shot and killed the pit bull. An officer who found the woman was so traumatized that he went to the hospital.
It's unclear what led the dog to attack the woman.
