IN DEPTH PODCAST: Living under Taliban rule

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — For the last two weeks, the world has watched as Afghanistan has been consumed by chaos.

Taking advantage of President Joe Biden’s pledge to send troops home from the region, the Taliban swooped in almost effortlessly to reclaim what was once theirs.

Despite a strong military presence in the region for the past two decades, no one anticipated a takeover this hostile — and especially not this soon. Now, the entire country is at their mercy.

What are the Afghan people going through? And how might it affect us here overseas?

In this week’s 1010 WINS IN DEPTH Podcast, our very own Al Jones speaks with Sena Lund, the President of the Afghan-Hindu Association in New York, about the drastic changes the people of Afghanistan have already experienced and will continue to face as the crisis continues.

We also speak to the professor and chair of the political science and social studies department at St. Peter’s College in Brooklyn, Dr. Frank Sorrentino, about how the situation in Afghanistan could have much more serious ramifications here in the United States.
