NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Shake Shack made its much-awaited debut in Israel Tuesday, with a location in Tel Aviv's central business district, to the delight of throngs of hamburger-hungry folks who lined up around the corner to sample the iconic NYC-based chain's fare of burgers and fries.

The location -- one of 15 planned for the country -- is located next to Dizengoff Center, Tel Aviv's major indoor shopping center.

The menu is similar to the stateside version -- but not identical: There are, of course, hamburgers and crinkle-cut fries, as well as hot dogs, the Shroom portobello burger and cheeseburgers (the location does not follow kosher dietary laws). Unlike the U.S., though, the Tel Aviv location does not serve any chicken items -- but it sells pistachio shake and cocktails, not found in U.S. locations.

When Shake Shack announced last Spring it was heading to Israel, Michael Kark, Chief Global Licensing Officer of Shake Shack, said, "We have long admired the rich and diverse food culture of Israel, and we couldn’t be more excited to arrive in Tel Aviv and reach 15 Shacks across Israel by 2033."
Harel Wizel, ceo of Fox Group, which partnered with Shake Shack to bring it to Israel, said, "We will secure access to the best locations all around the country, ensuring that we can bring the Shake Shack experience to as many people as possible. Together, we're committed to creating a memorable Shake Shack experience for all our guests."
