With the No. 43 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, their only selection on Day 2, the New York Jets selected Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann.
The selection was announced by a former Jets lineman in D’Brickashaw Ferguson, who was the Jets’ No. 4 overall pick in 2006 and spent a decade with Gang Green.
Tippmann, who measures in at 6-foot-6 and 313 pounds, could project better as a guard at the NFL level according to many scouting reports, but he was a two-year starter in the middle and two-time Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection for the Badgers, with an NFL.com comp to Josh Myers.
NFL.com also graded him out in his prospect profile at a score of 6.35, which is “will eventually be a plus starter.”
The selection was scheduled to be the Jets’ only pick on Day 2, as they had traded their third-rounder to Cleveland for No. 42 in the Elijah Moore deal, then sent that No. 42 pick to Green Bay in the Aaron Rodgers deal.
