With the No. 70 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Giants have selected Kentucky CB Andru Phillips.
The selection was, like Big Blue’s second-rounder, announced by our Tiki Barber – who noted that his Hall of Fame CB brother, Ronde, was also the sixth pick in the third round, just as Phillips was on Friday.
Phillips did not become a full-time starter in Lexington until his senior year, starting all 12 games and recording 47 tackles (1.5 for loss) and five pass breakups. He played in 38 games over four years and had 81 tackles (3 for loss) and 10 pass breakups, but did not record an interception.
PFF’s profile says “Phillips' physical profile makes him an interesting cornerback for a team that likes to play a lot of press coverage,” and that he “projects as a mid-round rotation player early in his career.”
