Throughout last summer, the New York Jets were a popular pick at BetMGM to win the AFC East. Entering this summer, the Jets are the pick to win the AFC East.

In the weeks after acquiring Aaron Rodgers in late April 2023, the Jets owned approximately 30-35% of the AFC East champion tickets and handle while hovering around +225. They had the largest shares in the division but never sniffed 50% in either area.

One year and a couple weeks later, the Jets — currently +240 after opening at +280 in February — have 82% of the handle on 50.9% of the tickets. Only the Kansas City Chiefs (89%) and Houston Texans (85%) have higher handle shares in their respective divisions.

Both the Chiefs and Texans are defending division champs, while the Jets haven’t won the East since 2002 and have six division wins the last five seasons.

The Buffalo Bills (+155), Miami Dolphins (+175), and New England Patriots (+1800) have a combined 18% of the handle:

Jets: 82%

Bills: 7.1%

Dolphins: 6.8%

Patriots: 4.1%

There hasn’t been significant movement in odds since open. The Dolphins (+190), Jets (+280), and Patriots (+2000) have all climbed, while the Bills have fallen (+130).
