The Knicks' quest to make it five wins in a row just got tougher.
Alec Burks, one of the team's premier performers off the bench, has been listed as out for Friday night's game against the Mavericks due to health and safety protocols, which kept Derrick Rose out for an extended time earlier this season.
It was later revealed that Rose had COVID-19, and it took the point guard longer to return after he was cleared due to a need to return to physical form with his conditioning. It's unclear what caused Burks to be put into protocols.
Burks had one of his best games of the season in New York's win over the Pelicans on Wednesday, scoring 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds, with much of his production coming in an explosive fourth quarter. He hit a big 3-pointer to help seal the win, and has been one of the top fourth-quarter scorers in the league of late.
On the season, Burks is averaging 12.6 points per game and is shooting 40.8 percent from beyond the arc.
