Anthony Volpe got a brief scare on Saturday night after a fan ran onto the field and threw a shirt at the rookie shortstop as he ran buy, before being tackled by security.

The fan got onto the field from left field, and seemed to yell something at Volpe just before security took him down.

Volpe told reporters he was “pretty startled” by the encounter, but shook it off and made a nice leaping catch shortly after to end the bottom of the eighth and send the Yankees to a 6-3 win.

“Usually it’s just some drunk idiot running out, having fun on a bet,” Aaron Boone said, via the New York Post. “He looked like he was mad at something. Glad they were able to secure him and nothing major happened.”
