Boomer & Gio react: Is Carlos Mendoza's son breaking news about Mets' offer to Juan Soto?

Boomer & Gio have said they’re not going to talk about Juan Soto news anymore until there is actual news to react to – but this one was just too good to pass up.

With all of the people out there who could be causing chaos and making noise around a Juan Soto signing, even just in New York, the latest is…Carlos Mendoza’s son?

This is the social media era, and perhaps, Little Mendy was breaking news and making waves there.

“Everything just goes on and on and on, and it’s nauseating, but what would you say I were to tell you though that Carlos Mendoza's son has entered the chat?” Gio asked Friday.

“I would say that’s interesting,” Boomer said, “because he’s a kid, his dad is the manager, but how old is he?”

“I’d say he’s 11 or 12, maybe, but Carlos Mendoza's son is on TikTok, and there is a TikTok that pops up about Soto going to the Boston Red Sox, and he writes in a comment, ‘Mets offered him 15 years, $700 million, so no,’” Gio said. “They did background checks to make sure this was really him, but are we taking that seriously?”

That’s $46.67 million per year, which is a nice chunk of change, and totally in line with what Soto will probably get and other numbers we’ve heard – but should an interested team’s manager’s son be breaking news like that on TikTok, if it is true?

“I'm just trying to think of his dad said – he’s probably so pissed off,” Boomer said, with Gio going into an impression of Mendoza disciplining his son as a result. “I do take it seriously, and if they sign him, great, it’s your money, do what you want, but if it were me sitting in those seats, I am not paying that money. I want three or four other people for that money.”

Yes, Boomer still thinks a $700 million contract, or even $600 million, is insane, even at 15 years, especially given that Soto ‘ain’t that’ in terms of being the blowaway best player in the game.

“If in fact Carlos Mendoza’s son is correct, $700 million is absolute insanity,” he said.
