Boomer and Gio were live from Jets camp on Tuesday, and it offered an opportunity for Boomer to double down on a prediction he made earlier this summer.
“Aaron Rodgers throws 50 touchdown passes this year,” Boomer said. “If he plays all 17 games - that’s the caveat, he has to play all 17 games - if he plays, he will throw for 50 touchdowns.”
Rodgers’ career high is 48, which he reached in 2020, his third MVP season. Boomer is confident a healthy Rodgers will eclipse that mark, armed with weapons like Garrett Wilson, familiar faces like Allen Lazard, and now, new additions like Dalvin Cook.
“I know he is all in,” Boomer said. “He has represented that by taking a $30 million pay cut, by buying a house here in New Jersey, he is here every day and doing things with his teammates, and he has his offensive coordinator…who was insulted by Sean Payton. don’t think for a moment that those guys don’t think, in the back of their minds, that this is gonna be a year like he had in ’19 and ’20.
“If you go by interviews and everything you see on the sidelines and the practice field, he is recharged. He is recharged and motivated to go out there and have a great season.”
