Boomer & Gio already sick of panic over Jets offensive line: 'They will figure it out'

The Jets offensive line was the main topic of conversation once again on Wednesday, with the unit struggling in joint practice with the Buccaneers.

The offensive line was the subject of frustration from Robert Saleh in the latest episode of Hard Knocks, which has only enhanced the concern that the team’s high expectations could turn into disappointment, with a shaky line spoiling an offense littered with stars at the skill positions.

Both Boomer and Gio believe it is way too early for everyone to be sounding alarms.

“I am already tired of everybody focusing on the negative,” Gio said. “We’re finding the one morsel of a thing that is negative in camp and blowing it up. It is not the time. There is so much good going on with the Jets…they’re not gonna be perfect every single practice.

“Yes, the offensive line has to jell at some point, but to make it seem like this thing is gonna fall apart because they had a couple bad days, and now we’re gonna read into Aaron Rodgers’ body language to see if he’s annoyed or not, STOP!  I know it’s the Jets and everyone is waiting for it to fall apart, but stop! There is too much good and fun ahead of us to start trying to tear this thing down already.

“I’ve had it already. I’ve already had it with this narrative that has been out there for 10 days, and it’s already gotten worse.”

Boomer also believes the concern level has gotten out of hand, and while the offensive line was in consistent flux last season as well, the Jets have time to get things stabilized before the start of this season.

Besides, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t need much time to work his magic anyway.

“What is training camp for? For guys to figure it out and come together, and by the time the season starts, hopefully they’re on the same page,” Boomer said. “There are gonna be times when one part of the team looks good in practice, and another doesn’t.

“Nobody knows how important the offensive line is like I do. They will figure it out. Joe Douglas will figure it out. Mekhi Becton will figure it out.”
