Boomer & Gio are happy for Tommy Cutlets getting the Giants' starting QB gig?

The news broke during Boomer & Gio’s show on Monday: Daniel Jones is being benched in favor of Tommy DeVito, the end result of the Big Blue brass’ ‘evaluating everything’ during the bye week.

“They’re gonna do it! That’s amazing. Wow,” was all Gio could say, with Boomer adding “Why did they pay Drew Lock $5 million?”

Well, Gregg had a thought:

“Playing devil's advocate here because I just had this conversation, but could it be that Drew Lock was brought in just in case the Giants were having a decent season, and Daniel Jones, who’s always hurt, gets hurt?” Gio said. “Then, Drew Lock comes in and keeps this thing on the rails a little bit, because he's a quarterback who started in the league – but, since the season is completely lost and Drew Lock's not gonna be a part of their future plans, might as well put in the guy who gave the fan base something to enjoy last year.”

“I have no idea. Last year they beat Washington. New England, and Green Bay, had a three-game winning streak at one point with Tommy DeVito as a quarterback,” Boomer said.

That led to Tommy Cutlets being part of the last Boomer & Gio Live back in April, where they joked about he may not be the Giants’ QB depending on the draft…and here we are, a week before the next B&G Live, with DeVito back in the saddle.

“I guess it's sort of like, ‘hey, our fan base just hates our guts right now, why don't we just throw something to him to make them happy?’” Gio said. “This is such a weird situation to be in, because like normally it's like, you end up losing the rest of your games, you're gonna get the No. 1 overall pick and you get to get the best quarterback available, but this year, that guy might not want to come here and your owner might not want him.
It’s a bad year to be bad!”

“But not for Tommy DeVito,” was Boomer’s response, before the guys crowed about how great of a person Tommy Cutlets is.
