Jacob deGrom left his start with the Rangers on Monday night after throwing four no-hit injuries, with the Texas ace telling reporters that he felt soreness in his wrist from before he threw his first pitch, and it did not go away.
Boomer and Gio weren't surprised, to say the least.
"Is there an injury that he hasn't had?" Boomer asked.
"Wrist was one of those boxes that hadn't been checked yet, now it's in there," Gio said. "I've never heard of a pitcher who hurt his wrist just by throwing the ball."
DeGrom's injury history, dating back to his early years with the Mets, include a hyperextended right elbow, a hip injury, back tightness, neck, hamstring, "side," shoulder, forearm, and now the wrist. In a sight that Mets fans are very familiar with, deGrom couldn't finish Monday's start despite thoroughly dominating before being removed from the game.
"He's a strange guy," Jerry Recco said. "He's a strange guy for sure."
