The Giants are 2-7, we now know Daniel Jones is done for the year, and everything looks to be falling apart – oh, and that was BEFORE Xavier McKinney “basically said that the coaches are not listening to the leaders on the team and that’s what’s contributing to the losing,” in Gio’s words from an article by Jordan Raanan.
“Honestly, it sucks, but I don't know, man, I don't really have many words. I think that from a leadership standpoint, I don't think they've done a great job of letting the leaders lead and listening to the leaders and the captains,” McKinney was quoted as saying.
“That sounds like the Raiders,” Boomer laughed. “It kind of sounds like it was going on up in New England too. By the way, that's what happens when you lose. You know, people start fraying at the edges and instead of worrying about what everybody else is doing, they should just worry about doing their own job. And in this case, Xavier McKinney probably crossed the line that, Brian Daboll is gonna have to deal with now.”
Gio reminded Boomer that he asked about the impact the Leonard Williams trade could’ve had on the group, and now, the defense “played its worst game they had in weeks.”
“Well, every team is a little bit different because, you know, Washington traded Montez Sweat and chase Young off of their defensive line and they went up to New England and won yesterday,” Boomer said. “So, every team's a little bit different how they react to trades within the locker room.”
Boomer also reminded how Joe Schoen got praise for making the Leonard Williams deal friendly to Williams, saying they weren’t shopping him but had an offer they could take, and then told a story about the end of his Jets tenure and keeping guys motivated.
What does all this mean for the Giants going forward? That remains to be seen, but you can take a listen to Boomer & Gio’s entire segment about the situation above!
