According to recent reports, talks have moved along with Bill Belichick and UNC about the legendary NFL coach moving down to the collegiate ranks.
Meanwhile, the Giants sit at two wins while planes fly above their stadium telling ownership to fix the “dumpster fire” that a once-proud franchise has turned into of late.
As Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll’s tenure in New York continues to be filled with losing, Boomer wonders why John Mara wouldn’t be interested in bringing Belichick back to a franchise that he openly reveres.
“There are reports out there that nobody has reached out to him? That’s crazy to me,” Boomer said of Belichick. “[Schoen and Daboll] inherited a number of problems, but they didn’t help themselves over the last two years.
“People are gonna end up losing their jobs…someone has to be the sacrificial lamb for the fans. When you think of it from a business standpoint, the Giants are a legacy club…and it’s potentially gonna wind up being a 2-15 embarrassment? How do you overcome all of that? What is it gonna take to get the ship in the right direction and get fans back on board?”
For Boomer, getting things back in the right direction on the football side and business side could be bringing in a legendary head coach with a proven track record and massive fan interest.
“If you need a complete whitewashing to get the fans back on your side, to me, there is only one guy who would do that for the Giants,” Boomer said. “And that is Bill Belichick.”
