According to Doug Robinson of the Deseret News in Utah, Zach Wilson has already been informed by the Jets that he will be traded this offseason, which could explain Wilson’s reported reluctance to take back the starting job before Sunday’s win over the Texans.

Per Robinson, Wilson was informed he would be traded after he was benched for Tim Boyle, which is a report Boomer believes, and he believes Phil Simms’ belief that Wilson will wind up in Kansas City backing up the best quarterback in the league.

“Maybe the Jets can trade him,” Boomer said. “Phil, I think he has said it publicly, but he said it in front of all of us, and I kind of agree with him.

“He’s gonna end up in Kansas City with Andy Reid. Andy Reid is gonna pick him up, take him off the scrap heap and turn him into a quarterback.”

Boomer has big-time concerns about Wilson’s awareness, but perhaps Reid can help him see the field better, and playing behind Mahomes would help as well. That’s a conversation for another day. For now, Boomer says Wilson should at least get some kudos for how he played on Sunday.

“Give Zach Wilson all the credit in the world for his performance,” Boomer said. “He’s gotta feel good. He’s gotta know he can do it.”
