Boomer: Benching Tommy DeVito would be 'one of the dumbest things Brian Daboll could ever do'

Tyrod Taylor’s practice window has opened, and he is in play for Monday’s game against the Packers.

Safe to say Boomer does not want to see the Giants hand the starting job back to Taylor.

“This would be one of the dumbest things Brian Daboll could ever do, is not play Tommy DeVito,” Boomer said. “[Taylor’s] contract is up at the end of the year, and we need to find out whether or not Tommy DeVito can be the backup to Daniel Jones.

“Tommy DeVito is the story. He’s the reason to watch the Giants right now. It’s a feel-good story. He’s a local kid who is doing one…if Tommy DeVito goes out there and poops the bed, then you can bring in Tyrod Taylor to win a game.”

Taylor has been out the last four weeks with a ribs injury, and DeVito has become a sensation, one of the only feel-good stories of the New York football season as a New Jersey native living out a childhood dream.

Still, Daboll could decide Taylor gives the Giants the best chance to win. If he does make that decision, the Boomer and Gio crew would not be happy.

“No offense to Tyrod Taylor,” Jerry said. “I’m not gonna want to watch.”
