Tom Brady went viral this week for opining that the NFL product has dwindled since his retirement, and Boomer agrees with that assessment.
Boomer has already stated that the league has a product problem when it comes to Thursday Night Football, but he believes the product has been impacted across the board, with the nature of practices and the quality of officiating all being factors.
“There’s no question about that, and there’s a lot of reasons for that,” Boomer said. “I think it’s the lack of practice. I think it’s the fact that they can’t hit on the practice field late in the season. All the time off. I don’t think the owners really care about that, because it doesn’t cost them any money, but I do think it costs the overall product.”
Gio completely agreed, and while there have been games with exciting finishes, Boomer says that shouldn’t distract from the fact that the quality of play leading up to those finishes is not what it used to be.
“This season has not been - even though they will put out propaganda telling you how close the games are - it’s how the games are played,” Boomer said.
