Boomer sounds off on 'bogus' holding call on Sauce Gardner

Boomer opened Monday’s show by not hiding his disagreement with the holding call on Sauce Gardner, which negated what would have been a third interception of Patrick Mahomes and put the Jets in position for a potential game-winning drive.

Instead, the Chiefs were able to run the clock out.

“Maybe if they get that last turnover, which was a bogus call in my eyes. I don’t care what anybody says,” Boomer said. “You know in the NBA when they say ‘let the guys play’ at the end of the game? Don’t call some bogus penalty or bogus foul. It was a bad throw, it was off the mark, and the so-called holding on Sauce Gardner did not play a role in that at all.”

Instead, the drive continued, and the Chiefs offense remained on the field for nearly the entire second half of the fourth quarter, escaping with a 23-20 win despite Zach Wilson playing maybe the best game of his career.

“It’s frustrating as hell,” Boomer said. “They got the best out of Zach, and Robert Saleh was going nuts on the sideline. I don’t blame him for being so angry.”
