As the Jets move on with a crucial offseason in Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn’s first year at the helm, Boomer doesn’t see the team making any notable moves for a quarterback, and believes the 2025 starting QB is already on the roster.
“If they do this with a rookie head coach, a rookie GM, and a rookie quarterback? If they do that again?” Boomer wondered. “That’s why I believe Tyrod Taylor will be the starting quarterback, no matter what happens.
“Who knows, maybe they do trade out and get a couple more picks and take a Jaxson Dart or Kyle McCord or one of these other quarterbacks that may be rising in the draft as we speak.”
If the Jets were to take one of those mid-tier quarterback prospects, Boomer doesn’t see them starting in 2025, so it would be Taylor under center. It’s tough to see Gang Green collecting many wins under those circumstances, wondering if a more complete rebuild is in the cards, which could entail shopping Garrett Wilson or Sauce Gardner.
“Is now the time to consider trading high on players that are young and really good players...or do you build around those players and see if they have the patience to deal with losing over the next couple of years?” Boomer said. “Or do you sell high right now? That would be a full-on rebuild.”
