Yoshinobu Yamamoto was tagged in his anticipated MLB debut, lasting just one inning after giving up five earned runs in his first frame of work since signing a 12-year deal with the Dodgers.

Yamamoto, who was knocked around in spring training, allowed a double, a triple, single, walk, hit by pitch, and sacrifice fly in a disastrous introduction during the season-opening Seoul Series.

BT and Sal weren’t feeling too bad for the 25-year-old’s struggles in his first big league game.

“I’ve never been happier to wake up at six in the morning and see what was going on there!” Sal said. “I could see Hal [Steinbrenner] and Steve Cohen cheersing thing morning. I told you, both the Mets and Yankees…a lot of people in the organization were relieved they didn’t get Yamamoto at $300 million for the Yankees and $325 for the Mets.

“It’s insane. Twelve years they got this guy for, and he never threw a pitch in the big leagues. The first time he did, he got lit up.”

BT can only hope Yamamoto’s nightmare of a debut is a sign of things to come in 2024.

“If he finishes the season with an ERA of like 5.29,” BT said. “I’d be happy.”
