As the Knicks still await Julius Randle’s return, BT and Sal agree that the team’s road to a deep playoff run will be much more difficult without the All-Star.
It led to a broader discussion of where Randle ranks among the top Knicks in modern history, and the two both included Randle in their five best Knicks of all time since Bernard King.
For Sal, Randle’s two All-NBA selections and three All-Star appearances are enough to put him above Carmelo Anthony.
“Randle is a better Knick than Carmelo Anthony period,” Sal said. “Julius Randle right now is a better Knick than Carmelo Anthony ever was.
“Patrick Ewing, Jalen Brunson, and who else? Spree? Houston? It’s close…I’m putting Randle on this list. Ewing, Brunson, Randle, and Spree and Houston.”
BT is putting Melo on his list, and had to knock off Latrell Sprewell as a result. But Randle is a member of his top five since King.
“I’m not a big Melo fan…but I gotta give Melo a little more respect,” BT said. “I’ve got Ewing, Brunson, Houston, Carmelo, and Randle.”
