BT feels vindicated after a disastrous weekend for the Knicks, not that he feels good at all about being right.
But the Knicks were dismantled by the Cavaliers and Celtics in a span of 48 hours, and BT says it’s a confirmation of his belief from the beginning of the season that this team just doesn’t have what it takes to win a title.
“The Knicks are a mess. Not only are the Knicks a mess, I don’t know what happened to the New York Knicks’ heart,” BT said. “They’re not new anymore, and it’s not early anymore.
“You come out and get your face absolutely rocked. You give up 142 and lose 142-105...national television audience on Sunday, a day to rest...first quarter, they’re down 38-19.”
Not only does this season look like a lost cause in terms of contending for a championship, but BT isn’t sure that this team will ever get there given the assets that were sacrificed for Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, and BT’s gloomy outlook for Towns’ longevity. So, a title isn’t coming this year, BT doesn’t see one coming next year, so what does that mean for this core and how they will be remembered?
“Where is the pride with the Knicks? Where is the coaching? Where is the toughness?” BT said.
“There’s real problems here for the Knicks. I’ve said it since week one, and nobody wanted to hear it.”
