BT wouldn't put it past selection committee 'crooks' to be influenced by TV rights

BT went off on the NCAA Tournament selection committee for sending only three Big East teams into March Madness, and even wondered if TV rights played a role in teams like St. John’s and Seton Hall being left out despite their favorable NET ratings.

“The Big East got absolutely bent over and screwed,” BT said. “I don’t want to believe it, but I keep going back to the television aspect, which is the money aspect. I don’t want to get completely sucked into that, because it almost sounds too sour grapes.

“I wouldn’t put it past that room of crooks. That is what that room is all about.”

FOX holds the rights to Big East games, while CBS owns the rights to March Madness broadcasts. The Mountain West, a conference with six teams punching a ticket to the big dance, has a contract with CBS, and BT says, while it can’t be declared for sure, it’s enough to question the committee’s motivations.

“Their agenda is so transparent. There is nothing objective about this…it’s an absolute joke,” BT said. “I think it’s because of the TV. There’s a part of me that truly believes it. I can’t prove it, but I have no problem throwing it out there as a theory. Those people in that room have been crooked since day one.”
