C-Mac: Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole now have talent around them, so it's time to get it done

As the World Series gets set to begin, Chris McMonigle says two Yankee stars are under the most pressure to perform on the biggest stage and lead their team to a championship.

It is the two stars that fans have clamored to not be wasted by the organization while they are both on the roster and both in their primes.

“There are two guys where the pressure is still paramount,” C-Mac said. “Where this entire course of this recent Yankee history has been about winning while they’re in their prime. How many times have we heard that? ‘You have to capitalize on having Gerrit Cole, the best starting pitcher in the league, and Aaron Judge, the best hitter in the league, being in their primes.’ You can’t get through without a championship for those two guys.”

Now, the front office has done enough to get the talent around Judge and Cole to get the Yankees to a World Series. The bullpen has been reformed, Carlos Rodon and Clarke Schmidt help build a solid rotation behind Cole, and Judge now has Juan Soto and a red-hot Gleyber Torres batting in front of him. It is no longer about Judge and Cole needing more around them. It is about them showing why they were deserving of having an all-in roster around them.

“While most of that has fallen at the feet of Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner for not doing a good enough job and not surrounding those players with enough talent, that is no longer the case,” C-Mac said. “The talent is here. The team is now. They’re in the World Series. It is up to those two players to secure that championship in their prime. It is up to those two guys to perform and bring a championship back to the Bronx.”
